Throughout a 50 year career span The Master of Suspense has made some of the most iconic hit thrillers in film history. This was not done by accident, but by a mind that was way ahead of its time. The techniques displayed helped levitate this master’s films to international fame. It all started with a vision that was turned into a reality. Thanks to some of his cinematic techniques his vision became lucid for the bigger picture.

Techniques such as montage, visual storytelling, perspective shots, Macguffins and of course suspense helped engraved his reputation as one of the most influential legendary filmmakers of all time.!

To understand the technique of suspense we must first understand shock and what the difference is. Shock must not be confused with suspense. Shock is quick and over in seconds, suspense is long and takes forever. Suspense is done when we show the audience information that the characters are ignorant of. Hitchcock best demonstrated this with the bomb theory. For example if a bomb goes off under a table then you gave the audience a 10 second scene of shock.
